How do you eat Kimchi?

Kimchi can be eaten straight out of the jar, with or without rice. It can be cooked and added to soup, stews and stir-fry. It can also be used as a topping for hamburgers, brats, tacos or ramen for added taste.

Kimchi Fried Rice

Serves 2

Ingredients

3 Tablespoons oil

1/2 small onion, medium dice

1 cup roughly chopped kimchi

1/2 cup chicken or protein choice

2 cups cooked rice, preferably cold

2 teaspoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 eggs

salt to taste

Crumbled roasted seaweed for garnish

Step 1

In a wok or nonstick pan heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-low heat and add onions. Cook until the onions start to brown about 2 minutes. Add the kimchi and saute for about 4 minutes. Then add your chicken or protein of choice.

Step 2

Add the rice, break it up with your spatula, and make sure to mix it well with the ingredients in the pan. Turn up the heat to medium and cook everything for about 5 minutes. Stir in soy sauce and sesame oil. Taste, and then adjust according to preference.

Step 3

In a separate small nonstick pan over medium heat, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and when hot, add eggs and fry to preference. Serve on top of rice with crumbled roasted seaweed.
